in 2025, Dawson Stratigraphic Services was started with the primary focus on providing stratigraphical expertise across onshore Australasian basins. Areas of specialism include the Pre-Cambrian, Permian and Jurassic.
Bringing 13 years of industrial biostratigraphic experience, Sarah Dawson has experience in palynological and micropalaeontological analysis. Starting her career at Fugro Robertson (UK) as a Wellsite Stratigrapher, she was involved in conducting in-house micropalaeontological studies and onsite biosteering in the North Sea using foraminifera.
In 2012, she moved to South Australia to be closer to family and took up a position as a Graduate Geoscientist at Santos Ltd. Her role at Santos was based within the Stratigraphical Services team, providing palynological analysis of samples from the Cooper, Eromanga, Bowen, Surat and McArthur Basins. She assisted teams in sampling programs, generating new biostratigraphic zonations, developing chronostratigraphic schemes for new and existing basins and generation and maintenance of company stratigraphic charts. Her role as Senior Stratigrapher from 2019-2024 saw her provide subject matter expertise to all basins in which Santos operated.
